Getting Started 👋

Using different models

One of the greatest advantages of Alice are different models that you can enable for your Snippets and conversations. This lets you connect multiple models to one Chat app and you don’t need to juggle the interfaces and web logins. In fact, with Alice you can even switch to a different model in one conversation!

Another advantage should be costs. If you want to buy subscriptions to all the chat apps, like ChatGPT, Perplexity and more, the costs quickly add up making it not worth it to pay for different models. In Alice you pay exactly for the usage, what makes it cheaper in general but also gives you the advantage of using and experimenting with different models!

In order to make it work, you need to navigate to Settings in Alice. You will land in the General section of the settings, where you can provide your API Keys:

OpenAI models

Those are the most important models that you will use. In order to obtain your own API key, please register to OpenAI, and generate one here. Please, remember that you have to load your account with few pre-paid dollars in order for the API key to work properly. We strongly suggest adding the soft and hard credit cap, so that you're not charged beyond what you want to spend. If you're having problems generating the key, please read the OpenAI quick start.

Perplexity models

Great models for getting recent information and summaries. Please, register your account on Perplexity.ai and navigate to API section of the settings, to add a payment method and pre-pay credits for API usage. Then you can generate the API key that has to be provided in the bottom section of General Settings in Alice app.

Groq models

Super fast models, also available in JSON mode for Alice, making your Remote Actions even more powerful. In order to get your Groq API key you need to register on Groq and generate one in the console. Once you have it, in Alice, scroll down to Groq key (preview) section and fill it in.

Important!

Remember to keep your API keys safe! If they get exposed, revoke them and generate new ones. Once someone obtains your keys, he can generate costs for you using the API. Also, keep in mind, that Alice can send everything from your clipboard via API, when you use Snippets with keyboard shortcuts. This can become expensive if you copy by mistake a huge portion of text. You are responsible for securing your keys and for the API costs.
